  • Avoid the eye area.
  • Let the honey dry for about fifteen minutes.
  • Rinse with warm water.

Optional remedies to mix with honey for acne.

  • Oatmeal.
  • Coffee grinds (caffeinated and unflavored).
  • Extra virgin olive oil (EVOO).

Use two teaspoons of oatmeal or coffee to add to the tablespoon of honey. You can also use them both at the same time by adding one teaspoon of coffee and one teaspoon of oatmeal. Add less than half a teaspoon of EVOO on its own or with the coffee and or oatmeal. Adding too much EVOO will make the mixture runny.

Coffee grinds are much too harsh for really sensitive skin. Do not use coffee grinds on your face if you any type of inflammatory acne or are prone to have inflammatory acne breakouts. Especially if you are prone to or have severe types of acne do not use coffee topically. For average skin use coffee grinds at most once a week in a remedy. If you have sensitive skin without too much acne use coffee grinds at most every two weeks.

Oatmeal and EVOO are natural moisturizers. The coffee grinds will not only gently exfoliate your skin but also contain caffeine that helps your skin by removing toxins.

  6. You do not want to heat honey in the microwave, it ruins the antimicrobial properties. Instead, warm the honey by setting the bottle in a bath of hot water for a few minutes.

  7. Using honey as a spot treatment is amazing. I put honey on my pimples then put a small bandaid over it overnight and it reduces the swelling and redness immediately. I would recommend doing it as you as you notice one forming. I used the stuff that comes in a plastic bear bottle although most websites say to use all natural honey but my skin hasn’t been irritated or anything. If you have sensitive skin you might wanna try the all natural stuff.
